21-year-old rapper Juice Wrld passed away Sunday morning from a seizure. Although reports state that the cause of death is unknown at this time, Juice Wrld's ex-girlfriend, Alexia Smith talked to reporters about his apparent drug use during and even after their relationship had ended.

According to Smith, Juice was addicted to Precocets as well as cough syrup laced with codeine called lean. Although he had a problem with drugs, Smith says he wanted to get clean toward the end.

Smith says Juice took as many as three Percocets per day and often mixed it with lean. However, she also stated that he had the desire to get clean toward the end. She says that when he tried to get clean, he would go through withdrawals and his body would hurt. This would make him go out and do drugs again.

Smith and Juice dated each other in 2018. She says, "Seven days away from me, he ended up in the hospital. When he was away from me for seven days, he ended up hospitalized from collapsing on stage. One year away from me, and he's dead."

According to Smith, Juice was also fighting depression. His constant struggle with chronic depression had a bad effect on their relationship. She even says things often turned violent between them. She said their physical altercations is what would most often make him relapse after the couple got clean together. Smith says once things turned violent between them and he started using drugs again, she told him the relationship was over.

She did get clean and stayed clean and when she realized she needed to get clean, she also realized how addicted she was to the drugs.

She also stated that the physical pain that happens when you get clean from drugs was what made things worse for Juice Wrld. She said, "When you get [clean], it physically hurts and messes you up mentally. We started to get physical with each other and then he would just relapse because he couldn't deal with how much it hurt. His body was in pain."

She said that her mother raised her to understand that once things got physically violent between them, that was when the relationship should be over. She said she told Juice that and he agreed with her.

During and after the breakup between the former couple, Smith created a Youtube video describing their fights. She said that Juice squeezed and bruised her and even pushed her until she fell into the bathtub and hit her head. She also said that she would return the violence to defend herself.

According to Smith, she puts the blame on everything that happened to them on the drug use. It was because of the continued violence and drug use that caused their breakup. However, once they broke-up in October, she said she was still in contact with him every once in a while.

Smith says that Juice was tired of being a drug addict and didn't want to be one anymore and that was the heartbreaking part. She also said, "He was a drug addict with no one to tell him no and if he was told no, like by me or Ally [his current girlfriend], he would just do it behind our backs. Addiction is a hard thing for anyone. Your mind says stop but your body says more. I'm angry more than anything. It's wrong to point fingers but that's how I feel. I'm mad at everyone around him."

Although it seems as though his drug use may have been the cause of his seizure that ultimately caused his death, nothing has been proven conclusively yet.
