Juice WRLD Was Given 2 Doses of Narcan for Suspected Opioid Overdose During Seizure

Federal agents rushed to administer multiple doses of Narcan to Juice WRLD as he lay dying in a Chicago airport after suspecting that the rapper may have been suffering from an opioid overdose.

According to the Chicago Tribune, federal agents and police were already waiting for the "Lucid Dreams" rapper and his crew as they landed at Midway airport Sunday morning after getting a tip that they had been flying with narcotics and weapons.

While in the hangar, a drug-sniffing dog identified two bags on a luggage cart for containing narcotics, and they were searched by authorities.

During the search, agents discovered 41 bags of marijuana that had been vacuum-sealed, six bottles of prescription codeine cough syrup. Three handguns and a high-capacity ammunition magazine were recovered from Juice WRLD's bodyguards, who were both charged with illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.

While the search was underway, Juice WRLD began convulsing and suffering from a seizure. Agents asked the rapper's girlfriend if he had taken any drugs, and she allegedly told them he did not have any medical conditions, "but that he 'takes Percocet and has a drug problem,' according to the Chicago Tribune. It's still unclear if Juice took any pills before or during the flight. Percocet is a powerful opioid, and agents administered two doses of Narcan to Juice WRLD while waiting for the ambulance.

The rapper woke after the Narcan but was reportedly incoherent. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 3:14 AM.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place Monday by the Cook County Medical Exmainer's Office.

As of now, no drug charges have been filed for marijuana or codeine, as they were found in bags with no name tags or identification.

Since Juice WRLD's death, multiple videos have emerged of the rapper during the flight from Los Angeles to Chicago showing him having a good time, and did not give any red flag that the rapper was about to experience a major medical emergency.

Honest About His Demons

Juice WRLD, who had turned 21 just days before his death, was open about his issues with substance abuse, but claimed he was on a better path these days.

In a sit-down with the New York Times, he said, "I smoke weed, and every now and then I slip up and do something that’s poor judgment. I have a lot going for me, I recognize it’s a lot of big things, a lot of big looks. I want to be there, and you don’t have to overdose to not be there."

In an old interview with Hot 97, Juice talked about decisions he has made regarding substances:

"I’ve just kind of realized certain things about myself and my coming up, the way that substances played a part in my life, whether it was me doing them or other people. It’s something that I’m trying to separate myself from."
