Judith Hill, “On the Rocks”
H: Before you presume, I am neither a democrat or a republican. This is a unique circumstance. This is not an individual or a family seeking asylum, It was a concerted effort involving thousands. While it is not an "invasion" as some people are claiming, It is NOT typical immigration in any sense of the word. The ONLY appropriate response is denial of asylum requests unilaterally and immediate deportation. There is absolutely no reason anyone in the US should be defending this. Not because immigration is some catastrophic assault on the country. It is not exactly a good thing but its not entirely bad either. It should not be considered because it is an obvious public relations stunt. These people could have applied for asylum in their own countries without marching through a different, unrelated country and just showing up on the door step enmass. While we are more than happy to allow people to come here, we as a nation have no obligation to do so, constitutionally or otherwise. So like Trump or not, He is well within his rights to make a declaration of blanket denial of asylum.
