According to a recent report, Americans consume roughly 18 pounds of bacon per year, so a national day in its honor isn't so strange.

The National Day Calendar suggests other ways to celebrate National Bacon Day by eating a variety of bacon while watching Kevin Bacon movies or any movie with bacon in the title.

The other suggesting swing from the logical to the whimsical, and include trying a new recipe by testing the best ways to cook bacon; giving bacon as a gif; and writing bacon-themed songs.
