Joy Behar refuses to make gluten-free lasanga for her gluten-free best friend: 'It's a problem'

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Susie Essman revealed on "Watch What Happens Live" that her 81-year-old "View" bestie won't make her iconic lasagna without wheat.

Joy Behar, who famously called that one Italian woman a bitch, seemingly thinks that the act of adapting her legendary Italian cooking to accomodate her best friend's dietary needs is also kind of a bitch.

The 81-year-old View cohost's longtime bestie, Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Susie Essman, revealed this week on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live talk show that, despite not eating gluten-based food for 25 years, her best friend won't entertain the thought of evolving her iconic lasagna recipe to suit Essman's diet.

When asked what would surprise people about Behar, she said, "Um, she's a terrific cook. She makes a mean lasagna, baby," Essman told Andy Cohen. "But, I'm gluten-free, and she refuses to try to make a gluten-free one. I think it's a problem."

Essman's Curb costar Cheryl Hines, who was also a guest on the program, joked that Behar was "not a good friend" for failing to cater to Essman, who eventually clarified that Behar is capable of using gluten-free pasta, but "on principle, she refuses."

EW has reached out to a representative for Behar for comment.

Behar's lasagna has long been a topic of interest on The View. She even once demonstrated how to make it in a segment on the talk show, years before gifting a pan to moderator Whoopi Goldberg for her 68th birthday in 2023.
