Eagle-eyed viewers spot journalist’s embarrassing mishap on live TV

This journalist won’t let anything interrupt her live TV broadcast — not even the loss of a pesky front tooth.

Marichka Padalko was reporting on the global pandemic for a Ukrainian TV station when she began to feel one of her teeth come loose.

Instead of stepping away to handle the incident, she simply put her hand in front of her mouth, caught the tooth and carried on with the show without missing a beat.

According to the Mirror, Padalko was so suave that many viewers didn’t even notice — but some of the ones who did reached out to make sure she was OK.

She addressed the incident in an Instagram post, which the Mirror translated from Ukranian.

Нова "слава" прийшла звідки не чекали …. і підтримка теж. Так, в мене справді сьогодні під час прямого ефіру ТСН о 9:00 випала частина переднього зуба). Це, напевно, найкурйозніший мій досвід за двадцять років роботи ведучою. Прямий ефір тим і прекрасний, що завжди непередбачуваний. Так, в 2013 я вперше прямо в своєму ефірі побачила кадри затримання свого чоловіка на протесті під Київрадою, а кілька років тому мою ногу під час випуску несподівано почала облизувати собака, що забігла зі студії @snidanok Цього разу моя колега @nata_goncharova мені написала, мовляв, "ти так зреагувала, ніби ти щодня губиш зуби". Ні, не щодня. Просто саме зараз я вирішила виправити ту прикрість, яка сталася понад десять тому. В мене в спальні стояв важкий металевий будильник і одного разу дуже зацікавив мою маленьку доньку. Вона схопила його з підвіконня і почала розмахувати "іграшкою" навколо сплячої мами. І щойно я позіхнула, як маленька весела ручка відбила мені половину зуба. Зараз зважилася нарешті на більш радикальний ремонт. Тільки була не дуже уважна до заборони свого стоматолога надкусувати їжу передніми зубами до закінчення лікування. Власне, тому сталося те, що сталося… Чесно кажучи, думала, що інцидент пройде непоміченим. Саме цей епізод свідомо не виклали на YouTube канал ТСН. Але ми недооцінили уважність наших глядачів. Блогерка @ekulka виклала це в своєму профілі, і …. понеслося по всіх виданнях, і не лише українських. В усій цій історії мене особисто вразила та кількість підтримки, яку я отримала) – і в коментарях, і в особистих повідомленнях. Друзі, велике Вам спасибі))). “Yes, I really lost part of my front tooth today during the live TSN broadcast at 9 a.m.,” she said, according to the outlet. “This is probably my most curious experience in 20 years as a presenter.”

Padalko explained that it probably happened a result of an accident that happened more than 10 years ago. Her young daughter was swinging a heavy metal alarm clock around and it hit her in the mouth, damaging her tooth.

According to the Mirror’s translation, she thought the incident would go unnoticed, but apparently she “underestimated the attentiveness of our viewers.”

Instagram users praised her persistence in the comments.

There’s no questioning her professionalism in this situation — although it would have been totally understandable if she needed to take a break to sort things out.

Here’s to hoping she got that tooth fixed!
