Hold on tight, spidermonkey: Josh Peck revealed that he was in the running for the role of Edward in Twilight.
Yes, the Drake and Josh star had Taylor Lautner on an episode of his podcast Good Guys where he dropped the casual bomb that the role played by Robert Pattinson could have been his.
“I remember it’s like 2006–7, they’re like, ‘Audition for this movie Twilight, it’s based on a book, it’s going to be great,’” he began.
“I send in my tape for Edward. A month later, I’m with my manager, he goes, ‘It’s down to you and three guys.' Really? I hadn't even had a tummy tuck yet. I’m like there’s no way, he’s got to be so shirtless. It’s not going to happen," Josh continued.
“Spoiler alert, didn’t get it. But I remember then seeing R-Patz playing this part, I’m like, in what fucking world?" he continued. "Were they like, they’re like, ‘Okay, here’s what we’re thinking. Chris Hemsworth or Stanley Tucci.’ Like, what the fuck?! Impossible!”
As hard as Josh is on himself, it's worth noting that he is and always has been a handsome fella! I can't speak for his serious™ acting ability, as I refuse to see Oppenheimer, but who knows! Maybe given how insidious the saga was for Taylor's body image, it wouldn't have been totally fine to have a pre-tummy tuck actor in a world with sparkling vampires.
Also, Stanley Tucci is a famously sexy man.
In case you're curious who else was in the running, apparently Dave Franco, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Dustin Milligan were all considered at one point. Release the audition tapes!!!
