Josh Hutcherson is best known for his role in 'The Hunger Games' franchise, and has appeared in other films such as 'Bridge to Terabithia', 'Journey to the Center of the Earth', and more recently, 'The Beekeeper' and 'Five Nights at Freddy's.'

But did you know that he was almost cast in one of the 'Home Alone' movies?

As you know, Macaulay Culkin plays the iconic role of Kevin McCallister in the first two 'Home Alone' movies. The franchise went on to make four more films, with different actors cast as the lead characters -- and Josh Hutcherson was almost one of those actors.

Hutcherson recently sat down with BuzzFeed for their famous Puppy Interview video segment, where he was asked if there's a role fans would be surprised he auditioned for.

"Yeah, actually. When I was pretty young, there was one of the 'Home Alone' [films]. I was probably, like, 11, I think maybe when I auditioned for it."

The actor went on to say, "It got down between me and the other guy. That was, like, the first time that I tasted rejection. So that was really hard,"

While he did not confirm which 'Home Alone' movie he auditioned for, by process of elimination it is more than likely 'Home Alone 4' as the first two movies were released before Hutcherson was born, and the third film was released when the actor was just five years old.

Hutcherson stated he was around 11 years old at the time of his audition, and the fourth movie came out in 2002 -- ten years after Hutcherson was born. The next film wasn't released until 2012, meaning he would have been much older than 11 at that time.

Since then, Hutcherson has starred in many movies, including two recent films -- 'Five Nights at Freddy's' and 'The Beekeeper.'

‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ was a huge success, having earned more than $300 million at the global box office, which made it the highest-grossing horror film of 2023. Following the success, Josh Hutcherson says fans can expect more from the story as a sequel is reportedly in the works.

“I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible,” Hutcherson told Variety of a second 'Freddy's' movie. “Obviously, the fans are amazing and die-hard. For me to be a part of it was so cool and phenomenal.”

The actor continued, “We hoped it would connect with audiences, but I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did. I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.”

At this time, there is no set script for a ‘Freddy’s’ sequel. In the meantime, fans of Josh Hutcherson can go see ‘The Beekeeper’, which hit theaters Friday, January 12, and also stars Jason Statham and Jeremy Irons.
