Josh Homme addressed the possibility of a Them Crooked Vultures comeback during a fan AMA on reddit, saying he would love to get the band back together — but ultimately it’s not his call.

In a response to a fan who asked whether Vultures would ever record a new album, Homme explained, “It’s sort of not my job to put Vultures back together, that’s Dave [Grohl]’s job. My job is to dance around, write words, and try to write some music.”

That said, Homme continued, “I really want to — Dave knows this. I really want Vultures to get back together and do one more round.”

Them Crooked Vultures, which featured Homme, Grohl, Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, and Alain Johannes, released their first and only album to date in November 2009. They toured extensively behind the release, but then went their separate ways in 2010. In 2022, the group briefly reunited for performances at the Taylor Hawkin’ tribute concerts in Los Angeles and London.

“The band is so strange, the music is so strange and perverse,” Home said of Them Crooked Vultures. “I had such a joyous time on those tours and being in that band, because the other guys are Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones and they are just really good. The playing is so simple, you’re able to just get into ideas right away and they just happen. And that is a bit addictive, that environment.”

Concluding his comments, Homme said,” Is there any chance? Yeah, but I like that it’s not up to me. Is it a good chance? No.”

For what it’s worth, in 2021, Grohl expressed a similar desire to reunite Them Crooked Vultures. “I hope that someday we do it again,” he said. For the last couple of years, however, Grohl has been occupied with Foo Fighters, which includes a load of tour dates scheduled for this summer.

Meanwhile, Homme has his own touring commitments with Queens of the Stone Age in the months ahead.
