Josh Brolin and his wife, Kathryn Boyd Brolin, are one busy pair.

They juggle parenting with Josh's acting jobs and Kathryn's work as a photographer and entrepreneur. The couple even met while building their careers.

The two reportedly crossed paths when she was his assistant on a movie set in 2013, and they made their relationship public on a trip to Rome the following year. Fast forward, after announcing their engagement in 2015, Josh and Kathryn married in September 2016.

They eventually started growing their family with the birth of their first child together, Westlyn Reign, in 2018 and daughter Chapel Grace in 2020. Since then, the Avengers actor has talked about his "great respect" for Kathryn as a person and mother.

"Man, do you know how nice it is to look up to your significant other?" he told Fatherly in 2019. "I've seen this woman come of age and totally own herself. She's grown in her confidence and has ownership of who she is."

She has a degree in journalism

According to her website, Kathryn received a bachelor's degree in journalism and a certificate in photojournalism from the University of Georgia in 2009.

She also studied at the Santa Reparata School of Art in Florence, Italy, with a focus on photography.

She's a photographer

Kathryn shares heartfelt pictures of her family and snapshots of her daily life on Instagram, but most of her photo work is done with a professional camera.

The photographer has served as an ambassador for Leica Camera and has undertaken editorial projects, like capturing her husband for Men's Journal and Tyler the Creator for Billboard, among others.

Most notably, Josh and Kathryn made headlines when he posted a nude shot of himself taken by her in 2020.

She worked in the film industry

Kathryn started her career in modeling and the film industry in Atlanta before moving to Los Angeles. She worked as an assistant on movie sets, like the 2011 reboot of Footloose, The Watch with Ben Stiller and Inherent Vice.

Kathryn's work on movie sets led her to meet Josh in 2013. The pair got to know each other when she worked as his assistant on the set of Oldboy, where he acted alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Samuel L. Jackson.

The couple dated for about a year before he proposed with a diamond ring in early 2015.

They made their red carpet debut in 2015

The duo formally announced their relationship and engagement while walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015.

Kathryn wore a red ruffled gown accessorized with her new jewelry, and Josh kept it classic in a tuxedo and bow tie.

They wed in 2016

Josh and Kathryn tied the knot on Sept. 24, 2016, in front of family and close friends, including his father James Brolin and stepmother Barbra Streisand.

The actor said he was very involved in planning the nuptials, even jokingly calling himself a "groomzilla."

"I like it, it's fun for me," he shared with Today of coordinating colors and picking out vendors for the event.

Kathryn designed her own gown with lace details and a train for the outdoor ceremony, where the pair said their vows under a rustic arch covered in roses.

On their first anniversary, Josh shared a photo from their wedding alongside a sweet caption. "Our marriage is the result of two great friends finding each other and allowing the natural winds of heaven to swirl between them," he wrote on Instagram. "I'm the luckiest man I know."

She shares two daughters with Josh

The Brolins welcomed their first child together, Westlyn Reign, in November 2018.

"Mama Kathryn was stellar during this miracle birth and Bean is a flawless gem through and through," Josh wrote on Instagram to announce Westlyn's arrival. "We are blessed to the core."

In December 2020, Josh and Kathryn celebrated the arrival their second daughter, Chapel Grace. The new dad-of-four shared the sentimental meaning behind her name on Instagram.

"Everywhere we have traveled the one place Kathryn and I always found a great solace in were chapels," he wrote alongside a photo of the newborn. "Chapel Grace is, to us, a manifestation of that celestial feeling that was always felt as we meandered and knelt."

In 2018, Kathryn founded the luxury denim label Midheaven Denim in part because she couldn't find jeans to fit her 5'11" frame. Since its founding, her brand has expanded from denim to include loungewear.

"I have always strived to be as conscious of my impact on the planet as possible and also to do things that fill my heart up and make me excited and proud to go to work in the morning and continue to build a dream that was formulated a long time ago," Kathryn wrote on Instagram in January 2023.
