Jose Altuve went on 'The Tonight Show' and talked about how much he loves Aaron Judge
If you’re feeling a little baseball-deprived now that the World Series is over, Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is here to help. No, he’s not going to play baseball for you in your backyard (though he should seriously consider doing a backyard baseball tour during the offseason). Altuve went on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, and he was predictably personable and adorable.
Altuve walked out to the strains of “I Want it That Way” by The Backstreet Boys, but Fallon’s house band The Roots added their own twist: instead of singing “I want it that way” at the chorus, they sang “Jose Altuve,” which fit perfectly and was delightfully nonsensical.
Altuve loved it, though, and looked like he was having a ball on the show. He was in awe of getting a standing ovation in New York (where the show is filmed), and Fallon made him feel at home right away with by giving Altuve some of his signature eye black strips.
Altuve also talked about his friendship with New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, and how much he likes him. Fallon suggested that the very tall Judge and the shorter Altuve do a sitcom together, and Altuve said he’s game. Who wouldn’t watch a new version of “The Odd Couple” starring the two of them? Someone make this happen!
One of the best bits of the night didn’t even include Altuve, though. Fallon dressed up as Fox Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal and did a confetti-filled interview with George Springer, but not actually George Springer. Springer was played by the amazing actor and comedian Keegan-Michael Key (who has also spent time playing Penn State football coach James Franklin lately).
And Rosenthal, who is (rightfully) proud about his shorter stature, had the perfect response.

To be honest, Fallon should have had Altuve play Rosenthal. The two are about the same height! And if you need proof of that, here’s a picture of Altuve standing with several cast members of the Netflix sci-fi show “Stranger Things,” which primarily stars children.

The next stop for Altuve is a guest appearence in season 3 of “Stranger Things,” right?
