Jordyn Woods is sharing a glimpse into her relationship with NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns.

The model and socialite, 26, recently told PEOPLE at the Femme It Forward's 2nd Annual Give Her FlowHERS Gala what she thinks is the key to their three-year relationship — and it involves building a strong bond prior to dating.

"Friendship and trust,” Woods said. “We were really good friends before we started dating, and COVID gave us that free time in our life to really get to know each other, because a lot of people don't really get to know each other and they go into this relationship.”

“So, we've been through a lot together,” she added. “We've seen each other at all different ways, times, phases, so I think we have a very strong foundation.”

Woods, who also noted that “quality time” also helps keep their relationship strong, said that she wants to be there for “as many” of Towns' games as she can. “It's his birthday in a few days, so I'm going to go to that game,” she said of supporting his team, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Another way the pair shows their love is with personal gifts. “We love gift giving and ... What is it? The love language? The love language is quality time. We love everything,” she said.

“I'm excited. Every holiday, we like to really go large for each other,” she explained. “He does so much for me. I do what I can for him. I want to say it's a lot. So when it's time to show that appreciation, we like to go all out.”

However, Woods wasn’t the only one who gushed about Towns at the Give Her FlowHERS event. Her sister Jodie Woods shared her enthusiasm for the athlete being a part of their lives.

“I love him so much,” Jodie told PEOPLE. “Literally, even before they were together, they were best friends, so he would always be around. That's my brother. I know if I need anything, he got me. I love him to death.”

Jordyn and Towns were introduced by mutual friends "years ago," but it wasn’t until 2020 that their close friendship blossomed into a relationship.

The couple began dating in May 2020 and went public with their relationship in September of that year. In the time since, they have traveled around the world together and frequently share their affection and appreciation for each other on social media.

Most recently, the two were spotted kissing and embracing while they swam in crystal blue waters at their luxury hotel during a July trip to Greece. The pair vacationed with Towns’ fellow NBA players Patrick Beverley, Paul George, Ivica Zubac and their significant others.

Jordyn shared photos from the trip on Instagram, including snaps of her in a white crop top and sparkly skirt. “From Mykonos with love 🤍,” she wrote in the caption.
