Jordan Peele is gearing up to share a new anthology celebrating Black horror. Entitled Out There Screaming: An Anthology of New Black Horror, the collection is due out on October 3rd via Random House.
Peele — who has earned quite a bit of acclaim in recent years for creating top-notch psychological horror films, like Get Out, Us, and Nope — curated Out There Screaming, handpicking all-new short horror stories by 19 Black authors. He also wrote the foreword for the 400-page collection. Pre-orders are ongoing.
Promising stories that “prey on everything we think we know about our world… and redefine what it means to be afraid,” Out There Screaming is poised to be an inventive entry in the canon of horror fiction. If the sample excerpt — a snippet of N. K. Jemisin’s “Reckless Eyeballing,” currently available to read on the book’s Amazon page — is any indication, fans can expect to dive into narratives with similar qualities to those that make Peele’s films so compelling. Building tension and integrating surreal thrills within otherwise strikingly modern and resonant settings, the stories place you right into the shoes of the characters, and shine an illuminating life on our society in the process.

Out There Screaming will hit shelves on October 3rd, and is available to pre-order on Amazon.
