Jonathan Ross To Host ITV UK Oscars Coverage

Jonathan Ross is to host the UK coverage of the Oscars as the world’s biggest movie awards ceremony shifts to ITV for the first time. ITV has unveiled its coverage for the 96th Academy Awards, with Ross hosting an Oscars party on March 10 from 10.30 p.m. GMT (2.30 p.m. PT) and an official stream of the Oscars red carpet set for ITVX along with behind-the-scenes content. The following day, the full ceremony will be streamed on ITVX and there will be a highlights package on ITV 1 in the evening. ITV will also showcase the nominations in a few days time and, from February 26, launch a FAST channel on ITVX with Oscar-nominated movies. ITV is attempting to give the ceremony a shot in the arm in the UK after picking up the rights from Sky following a two-decade run that had in recent years seen declining audiences.

BAFTA Film & TV Awards Producer Relocates To Birmingham

BAFTA Film & TV Awards producer Spun Gold is relocating from London to Birmingham. MD Daniela Neumann will move to oversee the new site in Digbeth from next month. It will house edit and post production facilities in the future, while Spun Gold is in production on two major reality and entertainment formatted series for U.S. networks. Spun Gold has also recruited Sarah Trigg and Debb Swindells to its Birmingham production team. The move comes a few weeks after Spun Gold restructured under a newly-formed umbrella company, 53 Degrees Global, which now houses the Milf Manor, Real Full Monty and BAFTA producer. “Expanding 53 Global’s footprint with the move of Spun Gold to Birmingham, alongside the recent launch of Love Monday and Penny Lane Entertainment’s expanding slate, will position the group to meet the demand for regional production in the UK as well as exploiting international opportunities,” said 53 Degrees Exec Chairman Nick Bullen.

Global Screen Bags Amazon’s ‘Jan Ullrich — The Hunted’

European distributor Global Screen has acquired worldwide rights to Prime Video doc Jan Ullrich — The Hunted. The deal for the four-parter from Sebastian Denhardt (Nowitzki: The Perfect Shot, Klitscho) doesn’t include German-speaking territories, where Prime Video has the rights. The doc charts the personal journey of Germany’s only Tour de France winner, Jan Ullrich, who talks candidly about his greatest triumph, the doping scandal that ended his career and his descent into drug abuse. Susanne Laermann and Jan Klophausa from Constantin Dokumentation are the producers. Andreas Hartmann, Head of Content at Prime Video Germany, said “feedback from the audience and the press has been overwhelming,” adding: “We are sure that this moving documentary will also captivate viewers worldwide.”

BBC Unveils ‘Domino Day’ Trailer

The BBC has unveiled trailer for Domino Day, its supernatural drama about a young witch on the dating scene. Helmed by Siena Kelly and penned by Lauren Sequeira, Domino Day follows a young woman on all the dating apps, but she isn’t swiping to find her soulmate, she’s swiping to hunt. The trailer, which can be viewed below, shows Domino as she progresses in her overall task and meets a community along the way who start helping her understand who she is. The Responders producer Dancing Ledge is behind Domino Day, which also stars Babirye Bukilwa (We Hunt Together, Neighbors), Poppy Lee Friar (In My Skin, Life And Death In The Warehouse), Alisha Bailey (Call the Midwife, Strike) and Molly Harris (Industry, Monsoon).
