The former Marvel star was convicted last year in connection with a domestic dispute in New York. He will not serve jail time.

Jonathan Majors has been sentenced to probation, but no jail time, after being convicted of assaulting and harassing his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari in New York last year.

A Manhattan criminal court judge ruled Monday that the former Marvel star, 34, must complete a 52 week in-person batterer’s intervention program. He also has to continue with his mental health therapy.

In a split verdict last December, Majors was found guilty of one count of assault and one count of harassment in connection with a March 2023 domestic dispute with Jabbari, but acquitted of two other counts of assault and aggravated harassment.

Majors, who has maintained his innocence, faced up to one year behind bars. Entertainment Weekly reached out to Majors' reps after the verdict was announced.

Last week Judge Michael Gaffey denied a motion by Majors' legal team to set aside his conviction, saying there was "a reasonable view of the evidence to support that Defendant acted recklessly" during the encounter with Jabbari, according to ABC News.

Jabbari, a 31-year-old British dancer, accused Majors of striking her face, twisting her arm, and shoving her into a vehicle during the March altercation. Majors filed his own domestic violence complaint against Jabbari in June, claiming that she had assaulted him. Jabbari was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault and criminal mischief, but the Manhattan District Attorney's Office declined to prosecute the case against Jabbari, citing a lack of prosecutorial merit.

At the time of his arrest, Majors was a rising star in Hollywood, with recent credits in Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. In the wake of his legal troubles, however, the actor was dropped by his talent manager and publicist, and parted ways with several high-profile projects. His film Magazine Dreams, which garnered rave reviews and early awards buzz, was pulled from the release calendar, and Disney dropped him from a high-profile role as the Marvel villain Kang the Conqueror.

Last month Jabbari filed a civil suit against Majors accusing him of assault, battery, defamation and infliction of emotional distress. An attorney for Majors told the Associated Press the lawsuit came as "no surprise" and added that Majors was "preparing counterclaims against Ms. Jabbari."
