Jonathan Majors will not testify in the ongoing trial for his alleged assault against his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The defense rested Wednesday afternoon and no further witnesses will be called.

Priya Chaudhry and Seth Zuckerman, Majors’ attorneys, only called three witnesses to the stand on Wednesday and rested their case in the late afternoon. Closing arguments are set to begin Thursday morning. After that, the jury will begin deliberating. Depending on how much time the jury needs, the verdict could be reached as soon as Friday or early next week.

More from Variety

Jabbari has alleged that Majors assaulted her in the backseat of a car on March 25. She testified last week that she saw a text message on Majors’ phone from another woman that read, “Wish I was kissing you right now.” She said that she took the phone out of his hands to see who sent the message and he forcefully retrieved it. Jabbari said this caused bruising, swelling and “excruciating” pain and she had a fractured finger and a cut behind her ear.

Naveed Sarwar, the driver of the car, testified on Monday and said that he heard Majors and Jabbari arguing in the backseat. He said that Majors opened the car door trying to get rid of Jabbari and the actor was saying “Leave me alone. I want to go. I have to go.” Sarwar testified that Majors was “not doing anything, [Jabbari] was doing everything.”

On Wednesday, the defense called NYPD Detective Ronnie Meija, who reviewed Majors’ case; Tammy Weiner, an emergency medical attending physician speaking as a medical expert on traumatic injuries; and Majors’ talent agent Elan Ruspoli, a partner at William Morris Endeavor.

Also on Wednesday, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office released several pieces of evidence previously unseen outside of the courtroom. It included security and traffic cam footage of Majors and Jabbari exiting their car after the alleged assault and running down several streets; photos of Jabbari’s fractured finger and the cut behind her ear; Majors’ 911 call; and text messages and an audio recording of an argument between Majors and Jabbari.

The texts and audio recording was from a prior argument between the couple in September 2022. In the texts, Majors appears to dissuade Jabbari from going to the hospital after she suffered an injury to her head. He also threatened to kill himself several times in the text conversation, writing “I’m a monster. A horrible man. Not capable of love. I am killing myself soon. I’ve already put things in motion.”

In the audio recording, Majors is having an argument with Jabbari and telling her she “has to be of a certain mindset to support” him, like Coretta Scott King was to Martin Luther King Jr. and Michelle Obama to Barack Obama.
