Jonathan Majors has girlfriend Meagan Good and his family by his side at his New York City assault trial.

Majors, 34, arrived at the New York City Criminal Court for the start of his misdemeanor assault trial Monday morning dressed in a black coat with silver buttons and a dark beret. He walked into the courtroom hand-in-hand with his mother, who wore a black-and-white checkered coat, and Good, 42.

Jonathan’s sister, as well as Meagan’s mother and several friends of the couple, filled the courtroom's first two rows behind the actor's defense counsel before opening statements in the indictment filed regarding charges relating to Majors' ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.

Good, whom Majors has been dating since May, has accompanied Majors to a number of recent hearings in the weeks leading up to the trial.

Majors was charged with several accounts of assault and harassment after his arrest in March, according to the criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE. The Marvel actor has pleaded not guilty to the charges. If convicted, he could spend up to a year behind bars.

Majors' trial is expected to last several weeks and feature testimony from over a dozen witnesses. The trial began last week with pre-trial decisions and jury selection. He and Good were seen sharing a kiss in court before Majors made his way to the defense table on Thursday.

The couple's “shared love and faith in God give [Majors] incredible strength and comfort," the source told PEOPLE as the trial began last week. The actor was spotted carrying a a gold-leafed Bible to the courtroom last week, along with note-taking materials.

Jabbari, the woman who accused Majors of physically assaulting her in Chinatown back in March, was arrested in New York City and charged with assault and criminal mischief in October, though the Manhattan District Attorney's office declined to prosecute the case. Majors filed his own domestic violence complaint against Jabbari in June, roughly three months after his own arrest over the incident.

In the courtroom last Thursday, Good was seen shaking her head at Judge Michael Gaffey's mention of Jabbari's arrest. The defense had shared that they plan to use the arrest to discredit Jabbari's character as a reliable accuser.

“There was an investigation done,” the judge said of prosecutors' depiction of Jabbari’s arrest. “And she had nothing to do with that investigation and it was dismissed.”
