Jonathan Majors Found Guilty in Assault Trial

Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assault in the third degree and harassment. A six-person jury reached the verdict on Monday, December 18 in New York after four hours of deliberations and three days.

Majors was found not guilty of one count of assault in the third degree and not guilty of aggravated assault in the second degree.

According to Judge Michael Gaffey, sentencing will take place on February 6, with Majors facing up to a year in jail.

The “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” actor was arrested March 25 on charges of assault, strangulation, and harassment. Later accusations surfaced of toxic on-set behavior of “Magazine Dreams” and a British filing came against Majors on multiple charges of assault stemming from various other accusers.

Grace Jabbari, 33, was hospitalized with “minor injuries to her head and neck” allegedly as a result of an incident with Majors. She was granted a full temporary order of protection ahead of the slated May 9 court date; the trial was later pushed back to November.

Majors’ criminal defense attorney Priya Chaudhry provided the following statement to IndieWire at the time of the actor’s arrest: “Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently. This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations. All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday.  The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”

Since the allegations, Majors was dropped by his management company Entertainment 360. The “Creed III” star has also been dropped by multiple upcoming projects including Protagonist Pictures’ adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel “The Man in My Basement” and an unannounced Otis Redding biopic. His “Magazine Dreams” film was removed from the release calendar by Disney/Searchlight.

Majors recently appeared in “Loki” Season 2 and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” as Kang the Conqueror, a key figure in the next phase of the MCU. He is attached to lead 2025’s “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and 2026’s “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Rumors that Majors will be replaced have circulated, however Marvel has declined to comment. “Kang Dynasty” has since had a director switch up, with Destin Daniel Cretton dropping out of helming the film.
