Jonathan Majors has been let go from the Dennis Rodman feature 48 Hours in Vegas, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Lionsgate is no longer developing the film that hails from Lord Miller, and the project will now be shopped to other potential buyers. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Aditya Sood are on board as producers. CNN first reported the news.

The news comes ahead of a Feb. 6 sentencing for Majors on assault and harassment convictions stemming from an incident involving ex-partner Grace Jabbari in March.

Hours after Majors was found guilty in December, Disney dropped the actor as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Majors played the villainous part in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the Disney+ series Loki, with the role previously set to become pivotal in future Marvel movies.

THR reported earlier this week that Majors’ movie Magazine Dreams, which was the toast of the Sundance Film Festival last year, is unlikely to get a release from Searchlight.

48 Hours in Vegas features a script from Jordan VanDina that focuses on Chicago Bulls forward Rodman taking a mind-clearing trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals. The getaway for Rodman, who joined the NBA Hall of Fame in 2011 and was known for his outlandish behavior and attire, was featured in the Michael Jordan-centric ESPN docuseries The Last Dance that aired in 2020.

On the red carpet for last year’s Oscars ceremony, Majors spoke to Entertainment Tonight about 48 Hours in Vegas. The actor said he was doing “a lot of studying” for the role and hoped to sit down with Rodman ahead of filming.

During an interview that aired on Good Morning America this week, Majors said he was “absolutely shocked” at the verdict, which carries a sentence of up to a year in jail. When asked how Jabbari’s injuries were caused, Majors replied, “I wish to God I knew.”
