Jonathan D. Krane Dies: ‘Look Who’s Talking’ Series Producer & Sally Kellerman Husband Was 65
Jonathan D. Krane, producer of the Look Who’s Talking series of films who had a long working relationship with John Travolta and was married to Oscar-nominated actress Sally Kellerman for 36 years died suddenly in his home on Monday, Kellerman has announced. He was 65.
“So sorry to report the sudden passing on Monday of my beloved husband Jonathan D. Krane,” Kellerman said in a statement posted to her facebook page. “Thankfully our twins Jack and Hannah are both with me. I am totally devastated.”
Born in Los Angeles, Krane was a graduate of St. John’s College and Yale University’s School of Law. He served as president of director Blake Edwards’ production company, exec producing Trail of the Pink Panther, Curse of the Pink Panther, The Man Who Loved Women, Micki + Maude, A Fine Mess, That’s Life! and Blind Date.
Krane was the founder of talent management/production firm Management Company Entertainment Group, which had its first big success with Look Who’s Talking, starring John Travolta, Kirstie Alley and Bruce Willis’ voice work. However, the company soon was damaged by the purchase of a foreign distribution company and was forced into bankruptcy, nearly wiping out Krane’s fortunes in the process.
Krane’s career as a film producer continued however, with Look Who’s Talking leading to a long relationship with Travolta. In addition to all Look Who’s Talking sequels, Krane produced Travolta’s films The Experts (1989), Chains of Gold (1991), Phenomenon (1996), Michael (1996), Face/Off (1997), Primary Colors (1998), The General’s Daughter (1999), Battlefield Earth (2000), Lucky Numbers (2000), Swordfish (2001), Domestic Disturbance (2001) and Basic (2003).
Other films produced by Krane include Cold Heaven, Love Is a Gun, Mad City, and The Lay of the Land.
Krane is survived by Kellerman, who he marriedd in 1980, and their children.
