Jonathan Bennett is heading to Broadway.

On Wednesday, Broadway's Spamalot revival announced that Bennett, 42, will make his Broadway debut in the Monty Python–inspired musical when he joins its cast as Sir Robin on Monday, Jan. 23.

The Mean Girls alum will replace Michael Urie in the role and perform among the show's comedic troupe of Arthurian knights through Sunday, April 28.

"It's my dream come true. I'm so pumped," Bennett tells PEOPLE of his new role.

Urie, 43, will next star in Once Upon a Mattress at the New York City Center from Jan. 24 through Feb. 4, and then begin filming for a television series, according to a press release.

Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam opened the production's run at the St. James Theatre in Manhattan as Sir Lancelot, but his final performance as the character is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 7.

The musical comedy is adapted from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Former Monty Python troupe member Eric Idle, who played Sir Robin in the movie, collaborated with John Du Prez on the stage production's music.

They wrote the lyrics and book for the production's original run in 2005 leading to Spamalot's wins for best musical, best direction of a musical and best featured actress in a musical at the 2005 Tony Awards, among several nominations.

The original production ran for more than 1,500 shows before closing in January 2009, per Playbill. Spamalot's revival first held a limited run at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., from in May 2023 before announcing in August it was moving to Broadway.

"For our holiday presents this year Tania and I took each other to Spamalot last night and we both had a delightful evening," Idle, 80, wrote on X Dec. 31 after attending a recent performance. "I spent a lot of the show shamelessly crying. Thank you all involved in @SpamalotBway for making an old man very happy."

Spamalot is playing at the St. James Theatre now.
