American pop rock band the Jonas Brothers "turned the temperature hotter" at Bridgestone Arena on Oct. 9 as part of their "Five Albums. One Night." tour. Brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas rocked the Nashville venue for three hours, filling the night with sentimental moments, surprise guest appearances and, of course, hits dating back to the band's first album from 2006.
The band cycled through their tracks with efficiency and swagger, playing songs from albums "Jonas Brothers," "A Little Bit Longer," "The Album," "Lines, Vines and Trying Times," "Happiness Begins," and more.
The band's thorough concert had fans singing along through the decades as the brothers took the crowd on a sentimental ride. The Jonas Brothers switched from album to album, projecting videos and images of themselves growing up and progressing throughout their careers on the screens above the stage. The night was a powerful recap of a nearly two-decade long career, from the 2007 song "S.O.S." to the April 2023 track "Waffle House."
And though they've come so far—Nick Jonas enthusiastically told fans that this is just the beginning for the Jonas Brothers.
Nick's high notes soared as he demonstrated his multi-instrumental skills, playing guitar, piano and drums throughout the evening. Kevin shredded on the electric guitar, playing iconic guitar licks on songs like "Paranoid" and "Tonight."
Heartthrob Joe Jonas' impressive voice alternated between smooth boyband pop riffs and growly, gravelly rockstar belts—feeling closer to Mick Jagger than the Joe Jonas who sang alongside Demi Lovato in "Camp Rock" in 2008. The Jonas Brothers kept a lively energy as they danced and sang among their 15-member band, full with brass instruments, horns and a cellist.
If you didn't make it to the show and still want to catch the Jonas Brothers on their tour, they will be swinging back by Nashville on Oct. 20, playing another evening at Bridgestone Arena.
Top Songs of the Night
Pinning down the best songs of the evening from a 36-song-setlist, which included seven medley mashups, is a difficult task. While fans rarely sat down for the entirety of the show, two tunes stood out.
"Year 3000" brought pyrotechnic spurts of fire as the audience sang the chorus and clapped along and pink and blue lights pulsed in the background. The futuristic song has lived long beyond it's 2006 release, as the brothers chanted, "I've been to the year 3000 / Not much has changed, but they lived underwater / And your great-great-great-granddaughter / Is doing fine."
Joe Jonas' performance of DNCE song "Cake by the Ocean" was also a crowd pleaser. Rainbow lights raced around the stage during the groovy hit, ending with a shower of colorful, rainbow confetti over the crowd. Joe sang, "Let's lose our minds and go f****** crazy / I-I-I-I-I, I keep on hopin' we'll eat cake by the ocean."
Surprise Big Rob and Stephen Sanchez appearances
The middle of the show brought two surprise guest appearances. During the 2008 hit "Burnin' Up," the Jonas Brothers danced as columns of fire shot out around them onstage as purple and red lights flashed behind them. The band rocked out as they performed their fan favorite, singing, "Baby, who turned the temperature hotter? / 'Cause I'm burnin' up, burnin' up, for you, baby."
Towards the end of the song, bodyguard Big Rob jumped onstage for his rap verse. Robert Feggens, known as bodyguard to the stars Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and Fifth Harmony as well as the Jonas Brothers, rapped, "Big Rob's for real (And that's no lie) / Stop, drop and roll (And touch the floor)."
Another surprise appearance came after the intermission, which followed "Burnin' Up." Nashville-based singer-songwriter Stephen Sanchez appeared onstage to perform his hit "Until I Found You." While fans were not expecting his presence, many knew the lyrics and sang along to the affectionate 2022 viral song.
The Jonas Brothers' father takes the stage
In the second half of the show, the Jonas Brothers welcomed a very important guest performer to the stage.
Joe Jonas said, "You're about to get a special performance by somebody who literally had at least 50% to do with us becoming the Jonas Brothers. Please welcome Kevin Jonas, Sr.!" Kevin, Sr. is a former pastor and musical artist himself, with a set of pipes that blew the audience away.
Kevin, Sr. performed a cover of the Eagles' song "Desperado," filling the arena with his vibrato and booming, emotive voice. Kevin, Joe and Nick joined in, singing alongside their father for a sentimental moment. At the end of the song, the father hugged his sons with a wide smile and left the stage. The moment confirmed something fans already knew: musical talent really is interlaced into the Jonas family DNA.
Proposals and Pregnancies
The night had no shortage of exciting moments, many of which were sparked by Joe Jonas' cooperation and enthusiasm.
At one point, Joe spotted a sign in the crowd from a fan, reading "Help me tell my husband I'm pregnant." Joe invited the fan down stageside, where he managed to take her phone and FaceTime her husband. When the connection gave out, Joe recorded a video where he introduced himself to the fan's husband and noted that his wife had something very important to tell him.
Then, he panned the phone over to the fan who shared her exciting news. Afterwards, the band played the sentimental song "Little Bird," which is fittingly about becoming a parent. "You came in the world, my baby girl, beautiful angel / Oh, I could cry, got your mother's kind eyes," the band sang.
This wasn't the only momentous family-centered moment of the night's show. During the performance of song "Love Her," Joe told the crowd he would be operating a 'Kiss Cam,' where he'd be aiming a camera at members of the audience and their kiss would be projected on the screen above the stage.
The 'Kiss Cam' made for warm moments, as Joe searched for couples in the crowd. When the camera stopped on the final couple of the song, a man got down on one knee and proposed. The bride-to-be said 'Yes!' and the audience roared.
After a jam-packed night full of hits, the Jonas Brothers closed the show with song "Leave Before You Love Me," bidding the fans adieu.
