Jon Stewart visits 'Late Show' to defend President Trump but fails splendidly

After President Trump tweeted that he was not being fairly represented on late night television, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert brought in the always fair and balanced Jon Stewart to point out some of the positive things about the Trump administration.

Colbert described Stewart’s role: “Here is how it will work, OK? So you’ll be the balance, I’ll do my usual unfair slamming of the president, and you’ll provide the counterweight.”

While Stewart thought he was up to the task, he initially had difficulty coming up with something positive to say.

Slowly, Stewart started coming up with positive things about the president like, “Donald Trump is not a cannibal.”

But after watching Trump’s recent visit with his military advisers, which he described to reporters as “the calm before the storm,” Stewart could no longer bite his tongue.

The former Daily Show host said, “What the hell is wrong with this guy?” He then added, “What kind of sociopath would use that terminology when people are still cleaning up from literal storms?”

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
