Jon Stewart opened Wednesday’s “Daily Show” with a segment devoted to the resignation of embattled Illinois congressman Aaron Schock or as he coined him “Doogie Howser Wannabe.”

Schock said in a statement that the questions about his spending habits have proven too distracting, making it impossible for him to do his job effectively.

Stewart then showed several pictures from Schock’s Instagram account, in which wondered Shock is “ziplining through a rain forest, parasailing in Argentina, and chilling with Buddhist monks in Myanmar.”

“You served three terms in Congress while apparently also competing on ‘The Amazing Race,'” Stewart said. “But it’s the questions that have you all f—ed up.”

Stewart conceded that while Schock’s spending had been “questionable, it wasn’t necessarily prosecutable-until yesterday.”

Stewart then displayed a graphic showing that Schock had billed the US government for 170,000 miles driven in his personal vehicle. However, when he sold the same vehicle in 2014, it only had 80,000 miles on it.

Stewart had a simple explanation for the discrepancy. “Congressman Schock simply drove his Tahoe 90,000 miles backwards.”

The important thing, according to Stewart, is that Schock’s parents stand by him. He then played a clip of an interview with Schock’s father, who said he believes his son will be successful no matter what he does, “if he’s not in jail.”
