Jon Stewart is set to return to his iconic role as host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show in a limited capacity, according to a new report from Variety.
After cycling through various hosts following previous host Trevor Noah’s made his exit in 2022, Stewart will return as a part-time host, where he’ll host the show’s Monday night episodes throughout the 2024 election cycle. Variety’s report also notes that Stewart is expected to have an “oversight role” at the show that is expected to last through 2025.
Stewart originally hosted the show from 1999 through 2015, and was partly responsible for the series becoming the incredibly popular series it is now. Since his exit, he has been an executive producer on CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and also hosted his own show, The Problem With Jon Stewart, for Apple TV+.

Stewart to begin hosting next month
Stewart will begin his on-air duties as part-time host beginning on February 12, 2024. On Tuesday through Thursday nights, The Daily Show will continue to rotate through various host correspondents.
“Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, in a statement. “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”
Shortly after the news broke, Stewart and The Daily Show’s official Twitter accounts confirmed the news, showing Stewart at the desk.
