When is Jon Stewart returning to the Daily Show?

Stewart reclaimed his seat as host on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," a program where he and his news team discuss the biggest stories of the day, on Monday, Feb. 12. The late-night talk show airs Monday through Thursday (11 p.m. EST/PST).

Why is Jon Stewart returning to the Daily Show?

After taking a nine-year break from the show, Stewart was greeted to a swarm of cheers from the audience at the start of his first episode back, before addressing why he left.

"Why am I back?” Stewart asked. “I have committed a lot of crimes.” Once the laughter died down, he poked fun at a man whose campaign had just started when Stewart ended his 16-year-tenure as host in 2015.

“From what I understand, talk show hosts are granted immunity,” he said, a reference to former President Donald Trump’s ongoing legal efforts to avoid prosecution for the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. “Doesn’t make a lot of sense, but take it up with the Founders.”

Has Jon Stewart performed in Delaware?

Stewart headlined the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark in 2007, back when he was still hosting "The Daily Show" before going on hiatus in 2015.

John Stewart will perform at The Grand (818 N. Market St., Wilmington) at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, April 27. Visit  thegrandwilmington.org or (302) 652-5577.
