Fans of Game of Thrones will be disappointed to hear that the Jon Snow series is no longer in active development at HBO, as per Screen Rant.

The series, set to act as a sequel to Game of Thrones, was first reported in 2022. However, Kit Harington - the actor behind Jon Snow - has revealed in a new interview that "it's off the table".

Speaking with Screen Rant, Snow said, "I didn't want it leaked out that it was being developed" because he didn't "want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it".

He explained that the reason behind shelving the series is "because we all couldn't find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough".

Casey Bloys, CEO at HBO, did forewarn us of this news in November when he revealed, "I wouldn't say there is anything else in [the Game of Thrones] world that is close to a green light", as per TVLine.

"There may be a time in the future where we return to it," Harington tells Screen Rant, "but at the moment, no. It's firmly on the shelf."

There is another Game of Thrones spinoff, however, and it has just cast its two lead actors.
