“I don’t know. Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to,” he explained. “I’ve been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I’m familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.”

The Mad Men actor previously came close to playing villainous Mister Sinister in a scrapped sequel to The New Mutants. But it was before Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, and since X-Men is now under the MCU banner, Hamm has some new ideas of what role he would love to take on.

“Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me,” he added. “But if not, I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories. There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, [like] Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?”

Throughout the last few years, Marvel has continued to tease the long-awaited emergence of the X-Men in the MCU.

As for Fantastic Four, Matt Shakman is currently developing the highly-anticipated film. The director recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the casting rumors that have run rampant online for months.

“I understand the exhaustion of the Internet rumors, but I also celebrate them, too, because I am a huge fan of the Fantastic Four,” he said during an interview before the actors strike ended. “I certainly spent time wondering who should play them before I had the job of being the person who would cast them, so I understand the interest and I support it. And so there will be an announcement at some point in the future when the strike has concluded.”

Following his interview with THR, sources shared that Pedro Pascal was in talks to star as Dr. Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in the feature, though nothing has been confirmed at this point.
