Jon Hamm is getting into the Christmas spirit.

In appearing on The Tonight Show on Wednesday, the star, 52, put his acting chops to the test as he and Jimmy Fallon traded off with dramatic readings of some classic Christmas carols.

For the segment, Hamm and Fallon, 49, read the first three lines of several beloved holiday tunes as they tried to one-up each other with the drama of their delivery.

The Mad Men star gave a less-than-traditional rendition of carols including “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” and “Let it Snow.”

Fallon read through “I’m Getting Nuttin’ for Christmas” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” as he did his best to deliver the drama in the holiday classics.

The duo closed out the segment with a joint reading of “Must Be Santa,” and they were both sufficiently dramatic as they faked some fear of the Christmas icon.

During his appearance on The Tonight Show, Hamm also talked about his new animated series, Grimsburg, and his role in the upcoming Mean Girls: The Musical movie.

“It’s so good, it’s so funny, it’s so fun,” the actor said of the upcoming film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical.

In the film, he confirmed that he both sings and dances as part of his role as Coach Carr, the slightly inept health and gym teacher.

He previously played coy about whether or not he’d be singing in the movie, instead telling Entertainment Tonight that the film was “very funny.”

The Morning Show actor told Fallon that he does sing — and dance! — in the upcoming film, “Because why not?”

“If you’re gonna do it, do it – do the sing, do the dance.”

He also joked about his summer wedding to Anna Osceola, his former Mad Men costar, as he told Fallon that thankfully, “nobody fell off the cliff, that was very nice” at their June ceremony, which took place in “beautiful Big Sur, California on the coast of the country.”

Last month, Hamm revealed some other details about the nuptials on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as he said it was “very exciting.”

“We did it this summer in beautiful Big Sur. It was a perfect day. It was very sparsely attended, by our decision; it was small. And man, it was great.” he told Kimmel, 56.
