Jon Hamm Would Be Interested in Playing Batman: ‘Why Not?’ (Video)

Jon Hamm would be interested in taking on the role of Batman, but under certain conditions.

“It depends on the script, what the story is,” Hamm said on Wednesday in an interview with Graham Bensinger. “I am a huge comic book fan, always have been. I have read comic books since I was nine or younger. And I am pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like when they are done well.”

When asked whether he could see himself taking on the role of the Caped Crusader, Hamm said, “I’d probably fit the suit. I’d have to work out a lot, which I don’t love. But, I am sure there is an interesting version of that being out there. And if they wanted to tap me on the shoulder and ask me to do it, why not?”

However, while there has been speculation that Hamm would be taking on the role for years, he says there has never been a conversation that would make this come into fruition.

“I have had rumors about that since probably season one of ‘Mad Men,'” he added. “I have never had a conversation with anyone about it, literally. And I’ve sat in the room with all these guys. I have never been offered anything. I think the Internet wants what it wants. But, I mean, a lot of people have to sign off on that, obviously not just the Internet.”

Hamm’s revelation comes on the heels of reports that Ben Affleck, who has been donning the cape since 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” would not be playing the superhero in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” due to insurance costs.

On Wednesday, it was also reported that Henry Cavill would not be reprising his role as Superman in any upcoming DC films as Warner Bros. is shifting its focus to a standalone “Supergirl” movie.
