Jon Gruden has no interest in discussing Antonio Brown's injured feet

You have to imagine the Oakland Raiders, and particularly coach Jon Gruden, are frustrated with Antonio Brown.

The Raiders traded for Brown, one of the best receivers in NFL history. They gave him a raise. They spent all offseason planning to make him the focal point of their offense. And then Brown went into cryotherapy without proper footwear.

Brown has been out for almost all of training camp with injuries to his feet, which have been widely reported as frostbite, and the explanation for it is unfathomable.

Not surprisingly, Gruden wasn’t in the mood to talk about it Thursday.

Jon Gruden isn’t ‘going to get into the nature’ of Antonio Brown’s feet

Gruden hasn’t been very specific about Brown’s injury, and despite multiple reports that Brown injured his feet during a cryotherapy mishap, Gruden wasn’t going to talk about it.

“I’m not going to get into the nature of his feet. I’m just not,” Gruden said Thursday, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

We saw a glimpse of Gruden being frustrated during the first episode of “Hard Knocks” this week, when he was asking the Raiders’ head athletic trainer what Brown could do in practice.

One can only imagine he’s getting more agitated with each day Brown sits out. And it’s understandable, now that we know the reason.

Raiders waiting on Brown

The Raiders are trying to improve on a bad first season with Gruden, in which they went 4-12. They made many changes on the roster, upgrading in multiple spots. The biggest addition, by far, was Brown.

Brown had drama follow him everywhere in Pittsburgh. That’s why the Steelers were willing to trade him to the highest bidder this offseason. It’s also why no other team offered more than the third- and fifth-round picks Oakland gave up.

Brown’s feet will be a major story until he comes back. We just aren’t going to hear Gruden say much about it.
