Jon Gosselin and rarely seen son Collin are all smiles during home visit with sister Hannah

You can’t say Jon Gosselin isn’t trying.

The former reality star, whose marriage to Kate blew up in front of the world on Jon & Kate Plus 8, has been making progress with his children who will see him. That led to a very happy reunion this weekend at his house with both Hannah and his son Collin, who lives away from his siblings at a residential facility to address his unspecified special needs. And the visit may be more of a permanent thing.

Had a good weekend visit with Collin at home!

Gosselin, now a DJ, shared a photo of the smiling trio outside his front door in Reading, Pa. He wrote, “Had a good weekend visit with Collin at home!” He also turned off the comments on the post — likely so he doesn’t have to address the 5,000 questions he’d get about his son, who some have referred to as the “missing” Gosselin kid. According to reports in Us Weekly and Radar Online, Gosselin is currently attempting to get custody of Collinupon his release from an inpatient program for children with special needs.” However, there is no clear timetable for when that would happen.

Gosselin later posted a photo of Collin getting a haircut.

Earlier this year, Jon and Hannah visited Collin at his live-in facility — where he has been for more than two years — for the kids’ 14th birthday. The difficult decision for Collin to be sent there was made by Kate, who has primary custody of the children. She said she struggled over whether it was the right thing to do — and didn’t consult with Jon, with whom she is bitterly estranged. She noted that she was ultimately “very happy” with the decision and “comforted by the fact that he is so clearly exactly where he needs to be.”

In addition to his bitter relationship with Kate, Jon is estranged from several of his kids, including twins Mady and Cara, and he told Yahoo in 2016 that it was largely Kate’s doing. When he had custodial visits, he said that when he arrived to pick them up, “whoever comes through that gate or gets off that [school] bus is who I get.” At that point, he said, he didn’t get to see Collin at all because he was “homeschooled, so he doesn’t get off a bus.”

But the tides are apparently turning — albeit slowly. Hannah started spending more and more time with him — and it appeared she left her other siblings at Kate’s to move in with Jon and start attending a new school.

Even Kate’s annual back-to-school photo was minus Hannah — and, of course, Collin.

People magazine reported in August that while Jon has said Hannah “permanently lives” with him, Kate still retains full custody of the kids. Despite whatever influenced Hannah to move, it seems that she does see her other siblings. She was included in a pumpkin patch photo posted by Mady on Oct. 20.
