Jon Batiste will perform in Louisville at this Kentucky Derby gala. How to get tickets

Fresh off his live performance during the 2024 Grammy Awards, multi-instrumentalist and 20-time Grammy nominee Jon Batiste will be heading to Louisville as the featured performer at the 2024 Louisville Urban League Gala.

Batiste, the former bandleader of “The Late Show” worked with host Stephen Colbert. for seven years before setting out on a solo music career. The five-time Grammy winner, including a 2021 Album of the Year win for his album "We Are" has composed music, and consulted on and arranged songs for Pixar’s animated film “Soul.”

He won a Golden Globe for the music alongside Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails, and the trio also earned the Academy Award for Best Original Score. For their work on “Soul,” Batiste, Reznor and Ross also won the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media. Add to all that, Batiste is also a 2024 Oscar nominee for his documentary, “American Symphony.”

Performing at the Louisville Urban League Gala on May 1 adds to an already busy lineup for the singer-songwriter. Batiste is slated for shows at the Ryman Auditorium later this month, Montreux Miami Jazz Festival in March, Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April, and the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival this June.

Fresh is an American record producer, DJ, and rapper who became the primary production force behind the Cash Money Records empire. Beginning as the label’s only in-house producer in 1991, he’s received credits for the near-entirety of the label’s output from 1998 to 2004 before his departure.
