Clown Prince of Crime and Harley Quinn are finally together again, ready to reek havoc on Gotham City this October.

Warner Bros. dropped the first official trailer for 'Joker 2: Folie à Deux' on Tuesday, seeing over 5 million views within the first 10 hours of posting on YouTube.

Director Todd Phillips returns with another dark and gritty footage look into the world of Arthur Fleck, otherwise known as "The Joker." Joaquin Phoenix will reprise his role as Fleck. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga will debut Harley Quinn's character in the sequel − referred to as Harleen Quinzen in the sequel.

What is 'Joker 2: Folie à Deux' about?

Per USA TODAY reports, the trailer finds Fleck in Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum, imprisoned for his crimes.

Set to the tune of "Pure Imagination," he meets Harley Quinn, who’s already a fan: “I’m nobody. I haven’t done anything with my life like you have,” she tells him. As of now, it's unknown if Quinn's origin story is completely different from her usual "Arkham psychiatrist turned bad" storyline.

Quinn ends up pitching that the two break out, and the rest of the trailer shows them on the loose but also dancing and singing in fantastical musical numbers. But is this really a thriller combined with a musical?

Phillips pushed back against the new “Joker” being considered a conventional “musical" during a 2023 CinemaCon presentation.

“We’ve never talked about it like that. It’s a movie where music is an essential element,” he said. The director and Phoenix also talked about the fact that in the original "Joker," “Arthur is weird and aloof, but he has music in him. He has grace in him. It didn’t seem like that big a step to what we do here.”

When is the 'Joker 2: Folie à Deux' release date?

Warner Bros. has scheduled the movie's release for Friday, Oct. 4 of this year.

Where can I watch 'Joker' movie? What is 'Joker' about?

If you haven't seen the first movie or want to refresh your memory, you can stream "Joker" on Netflix and Max. You can also purchase or rent it on Apple TV, Google Play Movies, and Vudu.

The first movie follows Fleck as a failed stand-up comedian who is driven insane by the contempt shown toward him by others. After a violent incident on a subway car while dressed up as a clown propels him into the spotlight, he becomes an icon of fear and inspiration for Gotham City.

It became the first R-rated movie to gross more than $1 billion and was the sixth highest-grossing film worldwide in 2019. Phoenix also won a best actor Oscar in 2020 for his portrayal of the iconic supervillain, which was also nominated for best picture.
