Joker: Folie à Deux has been in the works at Warner Bros for years, and finally, audiences have their first preview of the film, hot off the press from CinemaCon.

Todd Phillips' first instalment to the Joker universe landed in 2019 with Joaquin Phoenix leading the way as Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian who is driven insane and turns to a life of crime and chaos in 1980s Gotham City.

Joker premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, going on to gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office and landed 11 nominations at the 2020 Academy Awards, leading Phoenix to win his first Oscar.

Joker: Folie à Deux marks the first time Phoenix will star in a sequel, collaborating once more with Todd Phillips, who stays in the director's chair.

The first trailer shows us that Phillips is staying in the world he established so vividly in the first film. That signature Gotham aesthetic remains present but with a twist as the film leans into a new genre: jukebox musical.

Lady Gaga joins Phoenix with fellow new players Brendan Gleeson, Ken Leung and Steve Coogan. Zazie Beetz returns to reprise her role of Sophie Dumond.

Joker: Folie à Deux is slated for release October 4, 2024.
