JoJo Siwa is turning heads with her new music, new look and new 'bad girl'-adjacent reputation since the release of her latest single "Karma" in April.

The 21-year-old multi-hyphenate has been the subject of waves of online mocking and ridicule, with social media users and influencers criticizing her over who wrote the song "Karma" and the dramatic, Kiss-like black graphic makeup she donned in the "Karma" music video.

The most recent online commentary about Siwa followed her on her 21st birthday, which was on Sunday, May 19. To celebrate, she took to Disney World's Epcot to "drink around the world" and was seen there with friends, including Florida-born reality TV favorite, Tyler Cameron.

You might say that the two are an odd pair of friends, and they know they are.

Here's how JoJo Siwa and Tyler Cameron's friendship started and a roundup of videos from Siwa's visit to Disney World.

Who is JoJo Siwa?

JoJo Siwa is a singer, dancer and actress who got her start on two seasons of the hit reality TV show "Dance Moms," which aired on Lifetime from 2011 through 2019 (minus a break from 2017 to 2019).

Siwa was on "Dance Moms" for two seasons in 2015 and 2016, then signed to Nickelodeon in 2017. With Nickelodeon, she released hit kids songs like "Boomerang" and "Kid in a Candy Store." From then to now, Siwa's career has become wildly multi-faceted. She's gone on tour, appeared on TV talent shows (like "America's Got Talent" and "Dancing with the Stars"), had plethora of guest spots kids shows and in 2021, released a musical movie called "The J Team," which debuted on Paramount+.

Also in 2021, Siwa and her "momager," Jessalynn Siwa, put together a short-lived KidzBop-like girl group called XOMG Pop!, which was an extension of the glitter, unicorns and rainbow-themed brand that Siwa embodied until recently.

Breaking away from her kid-focused bubble gum pop branding, in 2023, she appeared on a physical challenge reality show called "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test." This year, Siwa is fully leaning into looking and sounding more adult-like, with her new song "Karma," wild red carpet looks and dramatic makeup and costuming.

How are JoJo Siwa and Tyler Cameron friends?

So how did JoJo Siwa and Tyler Cameron become friends and end up celebrating her birthday together, despite being seemingly opposite from one another? According to the pair, it's due to their time on Fox's “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test."

During their time filming together in the frigid New Zealand winter in June of last year, Cameron formed an alliance and friendship with the now-21-year-old star. In a previous interview with the Palm Beach Post, he spoke highly of Siwa and their time on the show.

“[JoJo] was such a leader. So much composure, maturity. I think she was very important to all our success. She always brought spirit, spunk, fun, [and was] uplifting, but also the dress code enforcer," he said.

In an interview with Barstool's Chicks in the Office in late 2023, Cameron elaborated more on their friendship, saying "I love her." He also acknowledged how strange their friendship might seem but said it's been a joy hanging out with her.

Siwa also shared the love, telling Bustle in an interview that Cameron will most likely be the best man at her wedding.

"He’ll be probably the best man at my wedding,” Siwa said. “The best part about being gay is you can have the best man and a maid of honor.”
