Join IndieWire and Derek Cianfrance in NYC for a Live ‘Screen Talk’ Podcast at New Directors/New Films

IndieWire’s “Screen Talk” podcast is coming live to New York City with a special edition on Thursday, April 4.

To celebrate Film at Lincoln Center and the Museum of Modern Art’s New Directors/New Films festival, “Screen Talk” co-hosts Anne Thompson and Ryan Lattanzio will host a free live recording of the podcast at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center at 5 p.m. They’ll be joined by special guest Derek Cianfrance, the director of the films “Blue Valentine” and “The Place Beyond the Pines” and TV series including “I Know This Much Is True,” and the Oscar-nominated co-writer of “Sound of Metal.” Most recently, he’s a producer behind the New Directors/New Films entry “Exhibiting Forgiveness,” which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. The drama, directed by Titus Kaphar, stars André Holland as an artist confronted with the return of his long-estranged father.

During the live “Screen Talk,” IndieWire will discuss “Exhibiting Forgiveness” with Cianfrance, as well as his career past and present. Most recently, Cianfrance is set to direct the true crime drama “Roofman,” starring Channing Tatum. The event is free and open to the public, and info on how to attend is here via Film at Lincoln Center. The conversation with Cianfrance will then be featured on the podcast, which posts every Friday on all platforms and regularly discusses the latest news behind the scenes of film and TV.

Recent “Screen Talk” guests have also included Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Morgan Neville, T-Street’s Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman, MoMa’s head of film Rajendra Roy, and Neon president Tom Quinn, who joined IndieWire for a live “Screen Talk” at the 2023 New York Film Festival.

New Directors/New Films runs April 3 through 14 in New York, led by opening night film “A Different Man” and other acclaimed Sundance premieres including “Stress Positions” and “Good One.” The festival regularly touts new work from first- and second-time feature filmmakers.
