Say It Isn't So

Actor Johnny Depp is working on a musical about Michael Jackson's glove and what fresh hell is this.

The musical will be called "For the Love of a Glove: An Unauthorized Musical Fable," and the name alone makes it sound worthwhile just to check out. It's set to premiere in January in Los Angeles.

A Moonwalk Like Nothing Else

The musical is meant to follow Michael Jackson's life through the perspective of that one white, bejeweled glove that was synonymous with the singer-songwriter. Jackson was known as the King of Pop in the 1980s, and continued his reign into the '90s.

Recent allegations of sexual abuse by Jackson have tarnished his name, though even before that, he faced rumors of just odd behavior at his Neverland Ranch.

The full title of the musical is "For the Love of a Glove: An Unauthorized Musical Fable About the Life of Michael Jackson, as told by his Glove" and it's written by Julien Nitzberg.

Nitzberg hooked up with Depp’s Infinitum Nihil production firm to make the musical.

Sensitive Subject

According to Rolling Stone, the musical was scheduled to be a more straightforward biopic, until those allegations surfaced a couple of years ago.

“I’m known for writing a lot of biopics. A major TV network wanted me to write a [Jackson] movie … but the question came up [about] how to deal with the child abuse allegations,” Nitzberg said, according to Page Six.

This Should Be Interesting

“I said, how’s this? Everything MJ has been accused of has actually been caused by his glove, which is actually an alien from outer space [and] feeds on virgin boy blood. They laughed and said, can you do the normal version?” Nitzberg continued.

Now you really have no excuse not to see this, because that quote is as bizarre as they come.
