We get to see a lot more of Johnny Depp as epicurean English art dealer Charlie Mortdecai in a new trailer, seen here exclusively on Yahoo Movies. (Also see an exclusive poster below.) Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow (who plays his wife) put on their best British accents as a high-society couple from across the pond.
This action-comedy — based on a series of thriller novels from the 70s — places our leading man in present-day Los Angeles as well as his homeland in England. In this new footage, we see the rather oblivious Charlie has a wandering eye — for Olivia Munn, no less.
The aristocratic art dealer is accompanied on his adventures by his manservant Jock (last name Strapp — get it?), played by Paul Bettany. An ensemble comedy, Mortdecai is set to face a slew of characters, including his object of extramarital desire. Keep an eye out for appearances from Ewan McGregor, Jeff Goldblum, and more.
Will Mortdecai do right by his wife when all is said and done? We’ll find out when the movie opens in theaters on Jan. 23.
