Johnny Depp’s attorney Camille Vasquez is getting her own time to shine in the spotlight.

The highly-publicized defamation trial in Fairfax, Virginia featured two notable celebrities: “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor Johnny Depp and his ex-wife, “Aquaman” actress Amber Heard. Depp had initially sued Heard for $50 million dollars due to a 2018 Washington Post op-ed where Heard declared herself a survivor of domestic violence.

Although she never mentioned Depp by name in the publication, the “Fantastic Beasts” actor said that he lost out on roles due to the clear implication that he was her abuser. It seems that a jury agreed and landed a win squarely in Depp’s corner.

Although Depp didn’t get every penny he sued for, a jury did award him $10 million dollars in compensatory damages and $5 million dollars in punitive damages. That $5 million was later reduced to $350,000 dollars, the maximum allowed under Virginia state law.

On the flipside, Heard had countersued for $100 million dollars and claimed to have lost “a bunch” of scenes in the “Aquaman” sequel after one of Depp’s attorneys called her abuse claims “a hoax.” The jury decided to award Heard $2 million dollars.

The jury’s ruling gave Depp a major victory, but he wasn’t the only one who won big in the public defamation trial. His attorney, Camille Vasquez, became an Internet sensation for the way she confronted Heard on the stand.

Less than a week after the jury announced their verdict, Vasquez was promoted to a partner at the Brown Rudnick law firm after working for the firm for less than four years.

The news was reported on Tuesday afternoon by Deadline, which shared a statement from Brown Rudnick's chair and CEO William Baldiga.

“We are delighted to welcome Camille to the partnership,” Baldiga said. “Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now.”

He added, “We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner.”

Camille Vasquez, who is expecting a surge of work now that her legal prowess has been thrust into the spotlight, also made a statement regarding her promotion.

“I am delighted that Brown Rudnick has given me its full vote of confidence by having me join the partnership,” she said. “I’m proud of the uniquely talented team I’ve had the privilege to lead, which exemplified teamwork and collaboration, and I look forward to continuing to represent Brown Rudnick’s culture of excellence.”

Vasquez is only 37, having graduated from the Southwestern Law School in 2010.

Camille Vasquez Makes Public Statement Regarding Court Win

On June 1, shortly after the verdict was read, Vasquez made a public statement to Johnny Depp’s fanbase, some of which call themselves the “Deppford Wives.”

Vasquez said that the jury’s verdict “confirms what we have said from the beginning, that the claims against Johnny Depp are defamatory and unsupported by any evidence.”

She added that “We are grateful, so grateful to the jury for their careful deliberation, to the judge, and the court staff who have devoted an enormous amount of time and resources towards this case.”

The news of Vasquez’s promotion also comes on the same day that Johnny Depp decided to make a TikTok account to thank his fanbase for their support.

“The Lone Ranger” actor posted a short statement to accompany his first TikTok video, thanking his followers for their support.

“To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together,” he wrote in the caption. “We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared.”

“And now, we will all move forward together,” he continued. “You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.”

One fan commented, “WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU.”

“The legend is back!!!” another fan wrote.
