Darby Allin helped Johnny Christ get Avenged Sevenfold’s song used for Sting‘s last match.

A solemn piano piece was used for the promo just before Sting’s final outing at AEW Revolution 2024. Sting teamed with Darby Allin to take on The Young Bucks in the main event of the show.

Before the bout, AEW played a video of Sting. The Icon was shown sitting in a movie theatre, watching a montage of all the best moments from his four decades in professional wrestling. The video was accompanied by the song “Life is But a Dream” by Avenged Sevenfold.

Avenged Sevenfold’s bassist, Johnny Christ, recently appeared on the Drinks with Johnny Podcast. On the show. he spoke about the band’s involvement in Sting’s last match.

He revealed that he is friends with Darby Allin, who helped get one of the band’s songs used for Sting’s last match.

“I’m good friends with Darby Allin over there. He’s been on my podcast. He was one of my earlier guests, to be honest, back a while ago. Since then, we became fast friends, you know. Over the years, we keep in touch and everything like that,” Johnny shared.

“But yeah, and then flash forward to last month, that Revolution was Sting’s last match. Weeks, months leading into it, Darby had hit me up and said he had this great idea for the promo of Sting’s last match. He wanted to use one of our songs,” he added. “I think at the time he was looking at ‘Death’ which is part of ‘G O D…’ towards the end of the record. But then they ended up going with ‘Life is But a Dream,’ the piano piece that Synyster Gates put together.”
