Legendary "Hairspray" director previously portrayed a tabloid photographer in 2004's "Seed of Chucky."

John Waters is getting all dolled-up. Again!

EW can exclusively reveal that the legendary director of Pink Flamingo, Hairspray, and Serial Mom is returning to the Child's Play horror universe. Waters will play Wendell Wilkins, the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who gets drawn into the psychopathic Chucky’s tangled web on an episode of Chucky season 3, Part 2. The filmmaker previously portrayed a tabloid photographer named Pete Peters who gets dissolved by sulphuric acid in 2004's Seed of Chucky.

"I still get recognized on the subway from Chucky," Waters told EW last year. "The only person who has ever recognized me on the subway, it’s because of Chucky."

Chucky executive producer and Child's Play overlord Don Mancini has no problem with actors portraying multiple roles within his killer doll realm. Mancini cast Jennifer Tilly to play both Tiffany Valentine the girlfriend of Brad Dourif's Chucky-possessing serial killer Charles Lee Ray as well as a version of herself. Final Destination star Devon Sawa has also played an array of parts in the Chucky universe.
