Birthdays are the perfect occasion to celebrate everything we’re lucky to have in life. But those milestone birthdays? Well, they just hit differently. John Travolta took to his Instagram account to commemorate his landmark 70th birthday in the most touching way — by celebrating his son Ben Travolta.

In the Instagram video the Pulp Fiction Oscar-nominee posted to his grid to mark his birthday yesterday, which you can check out below, Travolta gushes about his 13-year-old son’s skiing prowess. The video features Ben zooming down slopes, hopping over the powder, and so much more. The actor also added the song “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd to play over the video’s audio.

“This was my favorite birthday gift today. Seeing my son Ben ski to a new level! I’m so proud of him,” Travolta loving captioned the video. Of all the gifts and presents the actor could’ve highlighted, we really love that he chose to spotlight his son and share how proud he is of the teenager.

Travolta has been pretty particular regarding what he shares about his children on social media. The actor shared Ben and 23-year-old daughter Ella with his late wife Kelly Preston, who died of breast cancer in July 2020. In January 2009, the family experienced the loss of Preston and Travolta’s eldest son, Jett, who died at the age of 16 following a seizure.

We can’t help but feel that, on his 70th birthday, Travolta reflected on the best gifts he has in his life — that of his son and daughter. This touching dedication and celebration really warmed our hearts and reminded us that our loved ones in our lives are truly the greatest gifts.
