John Stamos is opening up about how his excessive drinking caused him to forget that he ever stepped onto the set of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.

During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday, Stamos, who is now sober, reflected on his 2015 arrest for driving under the influence and how his alcoholism affected his memory. In fact, the actor said he recently remembered that he had to return to set to finish filming his part in the 2016 comedy shortly after his arrest.

"I was just with Rita Wilson and Nia [Vardalos] in Greece and I realized, I forgot that the next day [after the arrest] they said, 'Oh, you got to go to Toronto, you're in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2,'" Stamos recalled. "I'm like, 'What? I don't remember being on that set.'"

Stamos and Wilson appeared in the sequel as George and Anna, an attractive couple with a son whom Gus (Michael Constantine) comedically attempts to marry to his granddaughter — until he discovers that their son is just a boy. (Vardalos wrote the movie and starred.)

By the time Stamos had wrapped the film, his close friends and family were all waiting for him back home to make sure that he got the help he needed.

"As soon as I came back from Toronto, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, my sisters were there and my agents, and everybody was like, 'Okay! It's time,'" he said. "It wasn't even an intervention, it was like, 'We packed your bags, you're going."

Stamos noted that he wasn't mad at his loved ones for their decision, and entered rehab for substance abuse. "I went for 30 days, and I just knew it was time, " he said. "That's it. I've not had a drink since eight years ago."
