John Prine debuts music video, says he 'can't wait to get back on the road' after surgery

Time off the road — and an emergency surgery — can't slow John Prine from spending time with his fans.

Prine, who underwent a stent surgery last week that caused the road warrior to postpone a handful of tour dates, hopped back on the (digital) horse Thursday to debut a music video on YouTube.

"Thanks so much for your well wishes," Prine wrote in a comment. "I'm resting up here in Nashville (and) can't wait to get back on the road."

The newly inducted Songwriters Hall of Fame member premiered an colorful cartoon video for "Lonesome Friends of Science." The cut comes off acclaimed 2018 release "The Tree of Forgiveness."

Barcelona-based graphic designer Tiago Majuelo illustrated the video, which Spanish animation company BLISS produced.

"This is the first time I've seen the video all the way through," Prine jested in the video comments. "This is great."

Prine's due to return to the road Aug. 23, when he kicks off a European tour. Watch the "Lonesome Friends of Science" video below.
