John Oliver mocks media outlets over 'irritating' Super Tuesday coverage

John Oliver joined Late Night With Seth Meyers Tuesday where the Last Week Tonight host shared his feelings about Super Tuesday. Fourteen presidential primaries took place on Tuesday with wall-to-wall, nonstop news coverage and endless speculation about who is going to win which state. And it’s pretty clear Oliver doesn’t much care for it.

Asked if he’d go home and watch the coverage, Oliver responded, “No, I mean it’s … look, I’m glad it’s finally here, but there’s been a lot of talk about it today. It’s kind of been irritating watching the news today just having them, ‘Who do you think is going to win this state? Who do you think is going to win this state?’ Just wait! You’re about to find out!”

And Oliver made a not-so-flattering comparison to the men and women covering Super Tuesday.

“They’re like kids in the back row of a car,” Oliver said. “‘Oh, who’s gonna win Alabama, Dad?’ ‘Wait for the exit polls! Wait for the polls to close! Don’t make me turn this democracy around!’ They just cannot help themselves but want to know.”
