John Oliver, host and producer of "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" on HBO, is bringing his deadpan style of stand-up comedy to IU Auditorium at 7 p.m. Sept. 30.

Who is John Oliver?

"Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" has been the recipient of multiple prestigious awards, including 23 Primetime Emmys along with numerous Writer’s Guild Awards, Critics’ Choice Television Awards, Television Critics Association Awards, and Peabody Awards. From 2006 to 2013, Oliver was a correspondent and guest host on the award-winning "The Daily Show," winning three Primetime Emmys during his time there.

Oliver has his comedic roots in stand-up and continues to perform to sold-out venues across the globe. He hosted four seasons of his own stand-up series for Comedy Central titled "John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show"(2010–2013). Prior to this, he starred in the stand-up special "John Oliver: Terrifying Times" (2008).

As an actor, Oliver voiced the character Zazu in Disney’s "The Lion King" (2019) and had a recurring role in the NBC Sitcom "Community" (2009–2014). Other notable film and television credits include "Big Mouth," Paramount’s "Wonder Park," "The Detour," "Bob’s Burgers," "Danger Mouse," "The Smurfs," "The Smurfs 2," and "Rick & Morty."

When do tickets to John Oliver's IU Auditorium show go on sale?

Tickets go on sale this Friday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. Presale tickets go on sale Wednesday.

Individual tickets may be purchased online at IUauditorium.com, in person at the IU Auditorium Box Office, as well as through Ticketmaster.com. The IU Auditorium Box Office, at 1211 E. Seventh St., is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
