John Mulaney's Ex-Wife's Memoir Might Tackle the Tricky Timeline of His Olivia Munn Relationship

John Mulaney might be sweating a bit after his ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler revealed on March 5 that she’s ready to tell her side of the story about their split in an upcoming memoir, Men Have Called Her Crazy. The book isn’t out until Aug. 13, but it gives the former Saturday Night Live star plenty of time to ponder how he will fit into her narrative.

Tendler gave a few hints in an Instagram post announcing the news. “I have been writing this book for two years. More accurately though I have been writing it for close to four decades,” she wrote in the caption. “I have never been more proud of any work. It is a story about mental health; about being a woman; about family. And finally, about the endless source of my heartbreak and rage—men.”

In May 2021, the 38-year-old artist announced in a statement that she was “heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage.” She kindly wished him “support and success as he continues his recovery” since the comedian was fresh out of rehab for issues with alcohol and cocaine. Their unexpected breakup then took a curve that no one saw coming — his romance with Olivia Munn. They were spotted together just a week after his Tendler split, but it was the revelation that he and Munn were expecting a baby together that sent jaws dropping across Hollywood.

“I got into this relationship that’s been really beautiful with someone incredible who has dealt with the non-coked-up Bambi version of me and that’s been very incredible,” Mulaney told Seth Meyers on his late-night show in September. “She’s kind of held my hand through that hell and we are having a baby together.” By November, their son, Malcolm, 2, was born. It doesn’t take a math whiz to see that the timeline doesn’t really add up and Tendler revealed how excruciating her “really bad year” was in a 2022 Harper’s Bazaar profile.

“Everything that has transpired has been totally shocking and I think surreal,” she said in reference to her divorce from Mulaney. “In a way, I feel like, well, it can only go up from here, because I reached the depth of where I could go.” Now, that some time has passed, Tendler’s tale could be the juiciest celebrity tell-all of 2024.
