Baby J is back for more.

Here’s the logline: “Six live installments of a show where John Mulaney explores the city of Los Angeles during a week when every funny person is in it.” The special debuts May 3, with additional episodes debuting nightly, beginning at 10 p.m. ET, from May 6 to May 10. Mulaney will also be performing at the Hollywood Bowl on May 4 as part of the annual Netflix festival, which, indeed, has just about every comedian performing at it.

Mulaney and Netflix have had a fruitful partnership together. Netflix is home to all his previous stand-up specials, most recently 2023’s “Baby J,” which, in part, found Mulaney speaking about his intervention and time at a rehab facility. “He still traverses the stage and does old-timey voices, but with focused energy and measured calm,” IndieWire wrote in a review of the special. “He still knows the value in being able to be the butt of a joke, and that superpower along with his timing are as sharp as ever. “Baby J” will charm new and old fans — while never letting them lose sight of the flawed, fallible human being at its center.”

In addition to the specials, Netflix is also home to Mulaney’s “Sack Lunch Bunch” TV special as well as a taping of “Oh Hello on Broadway,” with Mulaney and Nick Kroll.

It was recently announced that John Mulaney will also be the next guest on Netflix’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” with David Letterman. Mulaney’s episode, where the duo will return to his Chicago high school, will air April 30.

Mulaney recently hosted the Governors Awards and had a very well-received presenter segment at the 2024 Oscars. Plenty of people, including this reporter, hope the higher profile will ultimately land him the Oscars hosting gig.
