John Mulaney brought the laughs to the 14th Governors Awards!

The 41-year-old actor and comedian began his opening monologue by asking guests to take their seats inside the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, joking, "We have to be out of here by 10 p.m. There is a corporate event for some personal-injury attorneys coming in. They'll be using the same decorations."

"Hello, ladies and gentlemen. It is an honor and a favor to be here. This is a strategic obligation. It is a pleasure to stand here on this temporary stage," Mulaney continued. "For those of you that don't recognize me from the Tuesday night AA meeting in the Palisades, my name is John Mulaney."

He went on to praise Bradley Cooper for his work in Maestro, the cast and crew of Oppenheimer and more, and revealed that he'd recently been considered for the part of "Young Cop" in an untitled Maggie Gyllenhaal project but didn't get it.

"But let's stop focusing on failure. All right, enough failure. Tonight, there are only winners," Mulaney joked before going on to speak about the honorees.

Ahead of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 14th Governors Awards ceremony, Mulaney and girlfriend Olivia Munn made their red-carpet debut as a couple.

Munn, 43, put her natural beauty on full display, in an all-white ensemble that included a MATICEVSKI Laure Swing top and a Clary Evening skirt. She paired the strapless design with only a silver ring as an accessory. Her hair was parted in the middle, drawing attention to her rosy cheeks and dark-red lip.

Mulaney complemented the X-Men: Apocalypse star's ensemble in a classic black tuxedo paired with a matching bowtie. The two posed for multiple photos together on the red carpet.

PEOPLE confirmed that Munn and Mulaney were dating in May 2021. The pair welcomed their first child, son Malcolm Hiệp, that November.
